The Share folder dialog used to open with the public toggle already on, the URL field already filled in, and every configuration option visible. If you were opening it just to check the settings on a private folder, you'd see a giant modal full of decisions you hadn't made yet — and long share URLs would blow out of the right edge of the box.

Now the dialog opens quiet: one toggle, off by default. The URL, public title and description, and per-link defaults only appear once you turn sharing on. If a folder is already shared, it opens expanded so you can jump straight to editing.

Opening the dialog no longer commits you to anything. You can look, close, and the folder stays exactly as private as it was.
